I think Chris Buck is a genius. While I was in NYC, I met with Linda Liang, the photo editor who worked on this Steve Martin photo with Chris Buck.
I have been admiring Chris Buck’s work for a long time. I met him once while he was in LA for a shoot one year ago and saw him again for a coffee while I was in New York last month. His style is so distinct that whenever I see his photograph in a magazine or on a billboard for an advertisement, I instantly recognize it. There is a particular wit in all his photos. I think it is his original voice that sets him apart from all other photographers, and I know how difficult that is to achieve. To top it all off, Chris is a total charmer. He is just like his photography. I like how he can be funny, cynical, and sincere all at the same time. Not everyone can pull that off. He is my superhero…
